The Port Arthur Police Department announced Thursday afternoon that officers with the crime response team have been working several months under a Project Safe Neighborhood grant.
On Wednesday, those officers and members of the narcotics and guns unit made a traffic stop that resulted in the arrest of three local men.
Those arrested included Taylor Hill, Donrick Marks and Reseandre Chatman, each charged with possession of a controlled substance.
The arrests resulted from, according to police, officers finding several vapes containing THC oil (a felony offense).
Two handguns were also found in the vehicle.
Gun charges are pending on all three men, police said.
“One of the most important objectives of this grant is to take guns away from those individuals involved in criminal activity, and by doing so, make our neighborhoods a safer place to live,” a PAPD release stated.
