Attempted murder suspect leads Port Arthur Police on Friday chase, chief details

A Louisiana man with an attempted murder warrant led Port Arthur Police Department officers on a chase before crashing Friday.

Police attempted to stop a GMC SUV at approximately 1 p.m. in the 5000 block of Gulfway Drive, but the driver decided instead to flee, Police Chief Tim Duriso said.

The vehicle he was in was not reported stolen.

The SUV continued to elude police until it crashed in the 1300 block of Lakeview Avenue.

The driver, identified as Alfred James Washington Jr., 36, of Franklin, Louisiana, was taken into custody.

He will remain in Jefferson County until he is extradited, Duriso said.

Two females in the vehicle were also detained, one is 43 and the other is 49.

No injuries were reported in relation to the chase and crash, police said.

Information on the attempted murder charge was not available as of Friday afternoon.
