A man who reportedly dropped a baggie of cocaine from his passport when getting his ID scanned had two more baggies in his possession when police escorted him outside, authorities said.

Trevor Ashton West, 25, of Beaumont was indicted this week for possession of a controlled substance, cocaine, for the Nov. 18 incident.

Beaumont police were flagged down at Red’s Icehouse, 7665 College St., by employees after a baggie of white powder “mysteriously ended up on a scanning computer” used for IDs, according to the probable cause affidavit.

Surveillance video reportedly showed West hand over his passport to an employee, and when it was handed back to West, a baggie falls from the middle of the passport.

The owner requested West be banned and trespass warned from the business.

An officer escorted the man outside and found he had two outstanding Jefferson County Justice of the Peace warrants for his arrest.

While being placed under arrest, the officer allegedly found two more of the same baggies of white powder in the suspect’s back right pocket and another larger bag of white powder in his front left pocket.

West was transported to the county jail and booked in for possession of a controlled substance.

Bond was set at $25,000 and he was released the next day after posting bond, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
