A Port Arthur woman whose home in within 1,000 feet of an elementary school was indicted this week on drug charges for three separate cases.

Evelyn Dawn Mayorga, also known as Evelyn Sager Mayorga, 54, saw indictments for incidents occurring Sept. 13, Dec. 19 and Jan. 22 for possession of methamphetamine.

She also has two previous convictions for the same crime from 2017, according to court documents.

Mayorga was reportedly found with meth when SWAT officers executed a search warrant at her home in the 3200 block of Woodrow Drive, which is near Tyrrell Elementary School.

On Dec. 19, Mayorga was allegedly clocked driving 68 mph in a 55-mph zone, then failing to signal 100 feet before a turn.

When a Port Arthur Police Department officer pulled her over, she appeared nervous and was with a friend, police said. The driver and passenger got out of the vehicle as told and a clear baggie with multiple baggies inside were found in the center of the rear floorboard.

Officers said they also found multiple baggies with marijuana.

Mayorga told police the drugs were not hers, according to a court document. She and the passenger were both arrested on drug charges.

On Jan. 22, Mayorga was stopped by police in the 3600 block of FM 365 for a traffic violation. When officers approached the vehicle, they reportedly smelled marijuana and observed an open can of Dos Equis beer in the cup holder near the center console.

Inside the vehicle were two small baggies with suspected meth.

She was arrested on the drug possession charge and bond set at $5,000.

She was released the next day after posting bond according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
