NEDERLAND — Davida Boyd is known for her loyal, hardworking and compassionate nature that goes above and beyond to make sure her school is immaculately clean.
The Helena Park Elementary School custodian in Nederland takes great pride in making sure every surface is sanitary for the safety of the students and employees.
According to coworkers and team members, Boyd does not cut corners in any way.
“During a hectic year of construction on the school last year, Boyd stepped up to clean behind the construction crew, monitor work quality and move teachers out of classrooms and back in to ensure there was no delay that would impact the back-to-school process and education of her students,” a release from Cintas Corporation stated.
Now the national uniform and cleaning supply company is furthering Boyd’s case by placing her in a top-10 contest for 2024 Custodian of the Year.
The contest honors school custodians for providing a safe and clean learning environment for students. This year’s winner receives a grand prize of $10,000, $5,000 in Cintas and Rubbermaid products, training valued up to $20,000 and a pizza party for their school.
Additionally, each of the top 3 finalists win an all-expense paid trip to Las Vegas.

The greatest number of public votes determines the winner.
The winning school also receives a complete facility assessment valued at $20,000, in partnership with the Cleaning Industry Management Standard, advanced by the Global Biorisk Advisory Council certification from The Worldwide Cleaning Industry Association, ISSA.
Cintas is also awarding the winning school a pizza party for all staff and students. The other nine finalists receive $1,000 each and complimentary tuition to one ISSA Cleaning Management Institute virtual training event, valued at $1,500.
The finalists’ schools receive a cleaning supply package from Rubbermaid Commercial Products.
