Gunfire erupts across parking lot at Jefferson City Shopping Center in Port Arthur

Port Arthur Police Department personnel are investigating a shooting at Jefferson City Shopping Center on Twin City Highway.

No injuries were reported, authorities said.

Numerous crime scene markers on scene Thursday show where bullet casings are located, and crime scene tape cordons off a wide area of the parking lot near the Bechtel office.

Police Chief Tim Duriso said a call was reported at approximately 4:15 p.m. Thursday, alerting authorities to shorts fired.

Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to the scene, and Duriso said many were working security at nearby businesses.

A white truck belonging to the Precinct 4 Constable’s Office was struck by gunfire.

Duriso said the constable was working security at the Bechtel office at the time of the shooting.

No arrests were initially reported, and descriptions of a shooter or shooters was not available.
