Nederland man arrested, police link him to Beaumont armed robbery and Nederland carjacking

NEDERLAND — A Nederland man has been arrested, linked to a Beaumont armed robbery, police said.

According to the Beaumont Police Department, the vehicle and suspect involved in an aggravated robbery at Speedway, 2795 Eastex Freeway, were located by midnight officers at the Budget Inn on College Street.

Police previously said the robbery occurred at 2:55 p.m. Tuesday when a male entered and robbed the clerk at gunpoint. He fled in a newer model black or dark gray Dodge van. The license plates were covered.

“Officers located evidence linking him to the robbery,” a release from Beaumont Police said. “He was identified as Tarrell Donald Nowlin, a 51-year-old Nederland man. He was transported to the Beaumont Police Department for an interview.”

Police said the vehicle is believed to have been involved in the aggravated robbery that occurred Saturday at 1625 West Cardinal Drive.

“During the investigation, our detectives learned that defendant Nowlin was also alleged to have carjacked a vehicle in Nederland on (Tuesday) at around noon,” Beaumont Police said.

Nowlin was taken to Jefferson County Correctional Facility and booked for aggravated robbery. Charges are pending on the other crimes.
