Baseball

Baseball starts with T-ball for ages 4-5 and coach pitch for 6 year olds.

Minor league is 7-8 years of age and major league is for 9 to 12 years of age.

Softball

Softball for girls begins with minor league ages 7-9 and major league ages 10-12.

Fobbs has been involved with the league for more than 18 years and earned the 2018 Little League International Howard and Gail Paster Urban Initiative Volunteer of the Year Award for his dedication to the league and the youth.

He said there will be camps this year for the players, adding that organizers are looking to bring past players in to mentor the youth.

Port Arthur American Little League has seen players grow up to become police officers, firefighters, business owners and more.

Fobbs said the leagues usually have between 100 to 130 children play the sports each year.

Besides registration of this year’s players, the league also needs coaches, volunteers and is accepting donations.
