Weather concerns lead to school closure announcements for Tuesday

Late Monday afternoon discussions by school administrators across Port Arthur and Mid County led school closure announcements for Tuesday.

Due to the current weather forecast, all Nederland ISD facilities will be closed Tuesday.
“As always, the safety of our faculty, students and staff is our top priority. Please continue to follow our social media pages, website, email, and text for up-to-date information,” a Nederland ISD statement read.

Due to the current winter weather event, Lamar State College Port Arthur is closing its campus on Tuesday.

Plans are to reopen on Wednesday, though LSCPA administrators are continuing to monitor the weather.

All Bob Hope School campuses will be closed Tuesday due to weather conditions.

Due to the extremely cold temperatures the morning of Wednesday, January 17, 2024, and for the safe travel and well-being of our students, faculty and staff of the five Catholic Schools of the Diocese of Beaumont, students will report to school on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.

Faculty and staff will report at 10am.

The five Diocesan Catholic Schools are Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School, St. Anne Catholic School, St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica School, all in Beaumont; St. Catherine of Siena Catholic School, Port Arthur; and St. Mary Catholic School, Orange.

There is no school on Tuesday.

The Port Neches-Groves Independent School District also cancelled classes for Tuesday citing unsafe travel conditions.

Just after 5 p.m. Monday, officials with the Port Arthur Independent School District announced there would be no school in Port Arthur on Tuesday.
