Weekend concerns detailed as widespread showers and scattered storms possible

There is a low pressure developing near the Texas coast today that will move east across the region, bringing widespread showers and scattered storms.

Rainfall could be heavy at times, and a few storms could become strong to severe, mainly south of Interstate 10.

Rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches with locally higher amounts are possible. Minor flooding across urban areas may occur.

According to the National Weather Service, dry and cool conditions can be expected over the weekend, with the next storm system arriving on Monday.

This system also has the potential to be strong, with the possibility of severe weather and heavy rainfall.
