Motiva Enterprises has announced the recipients of its Motiva First Responder Grant Program, awarding $146,084 to 26 emergency response organizations in communities that host Motiva’s assets across six states.
Through this program, grants up to $10,000 per applicant are awarded to eligible organizations to fund the purchase of safety equipment, professional training or safety education programs.
One of the 26 grant recipients is the Port Arthur Fire Department, which plans to use its grant to purchase new positive pressure ventilation fans.
These fans use positive airflow to remove heat and smoke from a structure on a fire scene.
“Grants like this one sponsored by our local corporate partners demonstrate collaboration,” Port Arthur Fire Chief Greg Benson said. “The grant is an important funding source that will make a positive difference and directly impact the life safety in our community.”
The Port Arthur Police Department also received grant for $5,000.
This week’s announcement represents the program’s third grant award cycle.
Since the Motiva First Responder Grant Program was introduced in 2021, the company has provided grant awards across its operating area totaling more than $434,000.
“Supporting organizations which contribute so much toward the safety of the community is one way we at Motiva put our core values into practice,” Motiva Terminals & Pipelines General Manager Dollnila Slater said.
“In addition to improving the safety and preparedness of local first responders, we hope that these grants have a lasting, measurable impact on the communities where our employees live and work.”
