Port Arthur Police Chief Tim Duriso said the call of the shooting came in at approximately 8 p.m. Monday.

Officers were seen walking through the apartment complex and the nearby park adjacent to the apartments Tuesday morning, and a Crime Scene Unit vehicle was at the scene, as well.

Several evidence tape markers were placed on a wooden fence that separates the perimeter of the property, and one tape marker was placed on a window that appeared to have a bullet hole.

A woman who lives at the apartments who did not want to give her name said she heard shots Monday night, but added it’s not unusual to hear shots occasionally. She said she also heard shots a week ago.

The woman said she keeps to herself and has only been living at the complex for two years.

A man who said he works at the complex was walking around taking photos on his phone and had only heard about the fatal shooting Tuesday morning, he said.

Chief Duriso said police are looking at different scenarios involving the fatal shooting.

At this time, investigators have not released suspect or motive information.

Justice of the Peace Ben Collins Sr. ordered an autopsy.
