ORANGE — A man from Orange was sentenced to 40 years in prison for a fatal shooting that occurred in April.

Jaden Williams, 20, was sentenced Thursday in 260th District Judge Steve Parkhurst’s court, according to a court official.

He previously pleaded guilty to the April 28 killing of Isaac Adams, 23, of Orange.

Williams was sentenced as part of an open plea agreement, where the cap was set at 45 years.

Deputies with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office responded to the shooting April 28 and found a man lying near the edge of the roadway with an apparent gunshot wound to the head in the 5600 block of Broussard Circle, according to authorities.

During this time the alleged perpetrator who was also on scene was taken into custody. He was identified as Jaden Williams, then 19.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the shooting appears to be the result of a disturbance the two males were having just prior to the altercation.

Williams was taken to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Jail, where he was initially charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The victim was taken to St. Elizabeth hospital in Beaumont for emergency medical treatment.

Adams died the next day as a result of the gunshot while at St. Elizabeth Hospital.

Williams’ charge was upgraded at that time.
