Early morning blaze leaves home with extensive damage

ORANGEFIELD — An early morning fire Tuesday caused extensive damage to a mobile home in Orangefield.

Chance Chatagnier, district manager for Orange County Emergency Services District No. 2, said the call of the fire came in at 1:53 a.m. for the home on Herrington Road.

Emergency services responded with two engines, two tankers and seven firefighters. When they arrived, the fire was fully involved, Chatagnier said.

The occupants of the home were out when they arrived and no injuries were reported.

ESD No. 2 received mutual aid from ESD No. 1/Vidor, Orange Fire Department and Groves Fire Department assisted by standing by at ESD No. 2’s central station for coverage, Chatagnier said.

Extensive damage was done to the home and the Red Cross was contacted.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
