PHOTOS — Nederland celebrates seniors with Boston Avenue parade

Family, friends, local residents and the Nederland Independent School District celebrated the Class of 2020 in their final week as high school seniors on Thursday evening.

A sign near the Nederland Police Station shows the pictures of graduating seniors while a parade of seniors cruises along Boston Avenue.

A Bulldogs on Boston event kicked off the festivities with a drive-thru parade at 7 p.m. on Boston Avenue.

Rene Latiolais, communications coordinator for NISD, said the event was initiated to celebrate the Class of 2020 in a unique way by stepping out of the box.

Nederland High School senior Kaitlyn Clark stands out of her car to waive to the crowd.

“We know this has been a difficult year for everyone and we all need a little joy in our lives right now,” she said. “What better way than to allow our community to help celebrate our students’ success?”

Senior students drove down Boston Avenue in their vehicles, waving and cheering before heading to senior sunset.
