A Nederland Independent School District employee has tested positive for COVID-19.

The Mid-County school district made the announcement at approximately noon Wednesday via social media.

According to the school district, the employee, who was not named, is asymptomatic and currently quarantined at home. For confidentiality purposes, the District is not saying where the individual worked within the school district.

District officials said they have contacted other employees and students who may have come in contact with the employee, who was last at work May 20.

This is the only positive test of a District employee at this time, according to the NISD.

School District officials said elementary send-off events Thursday and the high school graduation Friday would not be impacted.
