GROVES — The 2020 Groves Pecan Festival has been cancelled.
It was scheduled to take place Oct. 22-25.
A statement from the Groves Pecan Festival Board of Directors said in light of circumstances due to the coronavirus pandemic, they were cancelling the 2020 Pecan Festival, Pageant, Art & Photo Contest and all other associated activities of the Pecan Festival.
“Our top priority is the health and well-being of the community, the thousands of likely attendees, the vendors, carnival personnel and all employees, volunteers and city workers who work so hard to generate the joy, thrill and heart of the Pecan Festival, year after year,” a media statement read. “We will all be back stronger than ever in 2021.”
Organizers stressed they did not come to the decision lightly – “we know our ultimate responsibility is to public health and safety.”
