Amos “Rabbit” Harris, Jr., 69, was born on February 11, 1951 to Amos Harris Sr. and Lena Young Harris in Port Arthur, TX.
He was a member of Eastern Star Baptist Church.
Amos was a member of the Abraham Lincoln High School Class of 1970, where he was an all-state, all-district running back.
Amos attended Tarkio College in Tarkio, MO and was about to be drafted to the Kansas City Chiefs but due to his injuries his football career was cut short.
He departed this life Wednesday, April 22, 2020.
Amos is preceded in death by his father, Amos Harris, Sr.; brother, Robert L. Thibedeaux; nephew, Robert Jeffery Thibedeaux; brother-in-law, Lawrence Viltz, Sr.
Amos is survived by his mother, Lena Young Harris; sisters, Dina Joseph (Norman), Doris Viltz, Brenda Gobert (Perry, Sr.), Roxana Barnes (Karl); brothers, Harry Harris, Sr. (Hazel), Phillip Harris, Sr. and Milton Harris (Lisa).
Amos also leaves to mourn his lost numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Graveside service will be Saturday, April 25, 2020 at Live Oak Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, April 24, 2020 at Gabriel Funeral Home Chapel.
