Oreo gifts brighten Nederland band member’s day
NEDERLAND — John Bieber was recently completing his work online as a sixth grader in the Nederland Independent School District.
In his Google Classroom, the band directors asked students to fill out a survey asking how they are spending their time and if they are playing their band instruments.
The last question asked if the students needed anything in this time of crisis.
Bieber typed “Oreos” on the blank line as a necessity he couldn’t get during the crisis.
A week later, he and family stepped outside and on the doorstep were two packages of Oreos with the printed out survey showing the request had been fulfilled.
“The smile on his face was priceless,” according to Bieber’s family. “I want to give a shoutout to the band directors at Nederland ISD Brandon Laird, Gary Janecek, and Justin Hargraves. They went above and beyond to put a smile on my son’s face. I can assure you he was one of many students who received surprises that day.”
