Showers and thunderstorms are expected to impact the region Saturday evening into Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service, the bad weather is expected to develop late Saturday afternoon and evening.

Warning Coordination Meteorologist Roger Erickson said the focus area will be east Texas and parts of southwest and central Louisiana.

Damaging winds, large hail and lightning will be the primary hazards.

Another round of strong to severe storms is expected Sunday morning through the early part of Sunday afternoon.

The highest risk area is in central Louisiana. Strong EF2+ tornadoes, damaging winds, large hail and lightning are all possible.
