Alma Linden, age 100, of Port Arthur, TX passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at Senior Rehabilitation Nursing facility.
A lifelong resident of Port Arthur, she was a faithful member of Rock Island Missionary Baptist Church since 1958.
Past affiliations include membership in American Woodmen and Rock Island’s Senior Choir.
Alma was known in the church and community for her love of baking cakes, candies and cookies.
In addition, she loved, cared and babysat for many Port Arthur-born children during her lifetime.
She is preceded in death by her parents Oliver Linden and Louise Washington Linden; sisters Leola and Mary Lucille Linden; brother, John “Turk” Linden and her dear cousin whom she raised as a daughter, Betty Lou Washington.
Survivors include her nieces, Jacqueline Gobard Armstead and Kemba Armstead of New York and nephews, Danny Linden of Washington, DC, Brian Gobard and Kieta Armstead of New York.
Special relatives and devoted friends include Katie Granger, Tami Briscoe Green, Brenda Howard, Madelyn Hunt, Patricia Hope Cole, Oscar Chappel, Mary Lee McZeal, Sandra “Cricket” Fontenot, Cynthia McZeal-Sinegal, Patsy Arceneaux and Nellie Battin – just to name a few of the many who loved her and shall miss her always.
Graveside service will be Saturday, April 4, 2020 at Live Oak Cemetery.
A memorial gathering will be announced at a future time.
