Herbert attended Abraham Lincoln High School (c/o 1967) in Port Arthur, Texas where he met the love of his life Claudia Spell.

They went on to build a beautiful life together. Herbert began working at an early age acquiring many skills that would contribute to his success.

His entrepreneurial spirit led him in to many endeavors – car repair, wrecker service, salvage yard, crusher service, trucking and his latest addition NAPA Auto Parts.

Regardless of his path, he always brought others along. The “Shop” has become a sanctuary, hang out, counselor office, man and women cave and a place you can always find work even if it was just until you got on your feet.

Regardless of what you called him – Big Herb, Felix, Pit Boss, Pops or Daddy, you knew when you called he would answer.

His impact and fingerprints can be seen in the lives of so many.

He was a member of Called to Destiny International where he sang in the choir, occasionally taught Adult Sunday School, member of the Men’s Ministry and was known for blowing the Shofar horn.

Herbert was preceded in death by his parents William Felix, Sr. and Charlotte Phillips, in-laws Hilliard Spell Sr. and Annie B. Spell, brothers Edwin Chargois and Peter Red Howard and nephew Roderick Calcote.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 50 years, Claudia Spell Felix, and his children, Herbert Louis Felix, Jr. (Niecy) and Meridith Yvette Oldacre (Patrick).

He is also survived by his siblings William Felix, Jr. (Pat), Mary Calcote (Roy), Patricia Felix and brothers-in-law Hilliard “June” Spell (Betty) and Abraham “Butch” Spell.

He will be missed by his grandchildren: Herschel Felix, Herbert (Tra) Felix, III, Miles Oldacre, Maddox Oldacre, and Malachi Oldacre along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Graveside service for immediate family only will be 11 am on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at Live Oak Cemetery, 12563 W. Port Arthur Road, Nederland, Texas with entombment to follow.

A Memorial Service will be scheduled for a later date.
