Mary VanWright was born to Dave Geter and Susie Duffy on October 12, 1925 in Natchez, Mississippi.

Mary was known to her family as “Dude” and was the second oldest of five children, brothers: Richard and Thomas Johnson and Fred Geter who all preceded her in death. One sister, Luella Dunbar.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories: daughter, Gean Thelma Johnson of Kansas City, MO and step-son David Hoover, Port Arthur, TX who was there until the end. One sister, Luella Dunbar of Natchez, MS; five grandchildren: Clematene (Tina) Hall, Michelle C.Outlaw, Kim Antionette Dunbar-McClain (Richard), Pier Ronchell Poe (Walter), NaSon White (William) and Elgin Smith; twenty great grandchildren and twenty one great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and wonderful church family.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2020 at New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church with visitation from 9 a.m. until service time.

Burial will be Sunday, March 15, 2020 at True Vine Baptist Church Cemetery in Grand Prairie, LA.
