BOB WEST CHIP SHOTS — Braden Bailey planning to compete in Louisiana APT Tour events

PNG-ex Braden Bailey is back from his Florida spring training, preparing to make a final push for a spot on the Canadian PGA’s Mackenzie Tour.

Though pleased with where his game is, Bailey has suffered a bit from lack of tournament competition.

To make up for that, he plans to play in upcoming APT Tour events in Alexandria and Marksville, Louisiana. Also, an outside possibility is the Korn-Ferry Tour stop in Lake Charles March 26-29. …

Andrew Landry and Chris Stroud will return to the PGA Tour next week at the Players Championship. Stroud missed his seventh consecutive cut last week at the Honda while Landry took the week off. …

The fivesome of Jim Cady, Tony Trevino, Pete Reobroi, Rusty Hicks and Dillard Darbonne scored a sweep in the Monday Senior 50 Plus 2 ball at Babe Zaharias. They were 5 under on both the front and back nines. …

In the Saturday 2 ball at Zaharias, there was a three-way tie on the front at minus 1 among teams captained by Kenny Robbins, Mike Brown and Ron Carlin. On the back, the foursome of Keith Mullins, Don MacNeil, Larry Johnson and Darbonne placed first with minus 5. …

The Friday 2 ball at Zaharias saw the team of Craig Geoffroy, Cap Hollier, Johnson and Wes McDonald win with minus 2. On the back, even was good enough to prevail for the team of Gary Hanan, Raymond Darbonne, Charles Leard and Dan Flood. …

Entry deadline is Thursday for the 47th Nederland Heritage Festival Tournament set for Saturday at Zaharias. Format is a flighted 2-person scramble. Cost is $20 per player above cart and greens fees, with the $20 going to the prize fund.
