Entergy recognized as one of nation’s top utility companies

Site Selection Magazine named Entergy as one of the top utility companies in 2019 for economic development.

The article highlighted the top 20 programs, listing Entergy as one of the companies “who earned the honor amid a field of around 3,300 electric utilities across the country.”

The Entergy Corporation serves 6,477,049 residents spread across Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. The corporate facility invested $13.4 billion and created 4,750 jobs last year.

“An educated, skilled and diverse workforce is critical to the health and viability of the communities we serve,” said Allie Payne, Entergy Texas communications specialist. “Powering the workforce in our region is one of the best ways we can contribute to the quality of life in our communities.”

Bryan Hebert, senior manager of project and technical services was quoted in Site Selection Magazine highlighting workforce development that Entergy contributed to, including “committing to invest $5 million over five years in local workforce readiness programs across all four states.”

Payne said in 2017, Entergy Texas committed $500,000 to support local workforce development training programs and create opportunities for the workforce in Southeast Texas.

“In addition to supporting the development of a skilled workforce, our Business and Economic Development team works with our communities to help attract and obtain business to Southeast Texas,” she said. “We work closely with an extensive network of Port Arthur public and private entities to promote the industrial infrastructure, vast transportation network and highly skilled workforce that Port Arthur has to offer.”

Top infrastructure assets of the Entergy service area of Southeast Texas include the extension of I-10 and I-45 Grand Parkway, installed rail, oil and natural gas pipelines and three deep water ports in Beaumont, Orange and Port Arthur.
