Pedestrian struck in Port Arthur faces life-threatening head injury

Port Arthur Police Department officers responded to the 1800 block of Rosedale Avenue at approximately 6:06 a.m. Saturday and found that a victim, who police said was a black male, was walking north in the northbound lane in an unlit-area wearing dark clothing.
Police said a vehicle, which was not identified, was traveling northbound in the 1800 block of Rosedale Avenue at the same time.
The driver told authorities said it was dark and he did not see the victim until it was too late and struck the victim with the vehicle.
The victim was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital, then flown via helicopter to Hermann Memorial Hospital with a serious, life-threatening head injury, police said.
According to the Port Arthur Police Department, the collision is under investigation by the Advanced Accident Investigation Division and Criminal Investigation Division.
