Front door kicked in, PAPD makes arrest Saturday morning

Police said an enraged man kicked in a Port Arthur front door and assaulted the home’s occupant.

Authorities announced an arrest Saturday morning, saying the altercation took place at 5:39 a.m. Saturday.

According to the Port Arthur Police Department, Deriah Miller, 34, was arrested for burglary of a habitation.

Police said an altercation took place 1112 9th Street, where investigation revealed during the course of a disturbance over money, the suspect kicked in the front door of the residence.

John H. Fontenette of the PAPD said the suspect entered the home and “assaulted the occupant/resident.”

“Officers located the suspect, and he was taken into custody,” Fontenette added.

This incident is still under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Division.
