Red Cross shelter moves back to Nederland

The American Red Cross, working in close partnership with emergency managers in Jefferson County, has determined the emergency shelter at Ford Park will transition back to the county at 4 p.m. Saturday.
To ensure residents with homes physically affected by the TPC Group Plant explosion have a safe place to stay, a shelter in Nederland at the First Baptist Church will be opened at 5 p.m. Saturday at 1911 Nederland Ave., Nederland.
Since Wednesday, Red Cross workers have:
- Provided more than180overnight shelter stays
- Served more than 670meals and snacks
- Distributed more than 80comfort kits with hygiene items like toothbrushes and soap
