Kathryn Barnes Markle

Kathryn Barnes Markle, 81, of Richardson, Texas and former resident of Port Arthur passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at her home in Richardson.

She was born on September 23, 1938 in Houston, Texas.

She was raised by her parents, Thomas Gerald Barnes and Margaret Crow Barnes in Port Arthur.

Kathryn graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1956.

Kathryn was a devoted mother to her children and loved her precious dogs.

After her children were older, she worked as a coordinator at UTMB Galveston for over 10 years. Kathryn’s favorite place was the beach, she loved any place with a view of the water and enjoyed many years living on the beach in Galveston Island.

She leaves behind a legacy of charm, wit and laughter that will forever be remembered and missed by all she encountered.

Kathryn is preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her daughter, Alexa Markle and her husband, Teri Gibson of Lucas, Texas, her son, Frank Markle and his wife, Melissa of League City, Texas, three grandsons, Spenser Gunaca and Clayton Gunaca both of Dallas, Texas, and Nathanael Markle of League City, Texas.

She is also survived by her brother, Robert Gerald Barnes of Houston, nephew, Robert Barnes, Jr. of Beaumont and niece, Dana Turner of Beaumont.

Visitation will be on Monday, November 25, 2019 from 11:00 AM till 1:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves.

Service to honor Kathryn’s life will be at 1:00 PM Monday in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson.

Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
