Rosie Lea Henagan O’Neal

Rosie Lea Henagan O’Neal, Age 93, of Groves and formerly of Port Arthur, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2019 at Magnolia Manor in Groves.

She was born May 10, 1926 in DeQuincy, La. and graduated from DeQuincy High School.

Rosie has been a resident of the area since 1945.

She briefly worked as a Sales Associate for Sears and an accountant at Northside Lumber Company then devoted her time to raising her family.

Rosie was a member of Pentecostal Church of Groves, where she enjoyed the fellowship of her church family for many years.

She was a loving mother, sister and friend to many.

She enjoyed being with family and friends and enjoyed many handcrafts.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 Years, Roy C. O’Neal, her parents John and Beulah Henagan of DeQuincy, LA. and her brother, Bobby Henagan of Groves, TX.

Rosie is survived by her daughters, Beverly Sharp and husband, Shelby of Houston, TX., Colleen Kessel and husband, Eugene of Groves, TX., Karen Cunningham and husband, Bradley of League City,TX. and son, Dennis O’Neal and wife, Pam  of Montgomery, TX.

She is also survived by sisters, Johnnie Ruth Henagan of DeQuincy, LA., Lynda Bruns and husband, Charles of Groves, TX. and brother, Billy Henagan and wife, Kathy of Orangefield, TX.

Rosie is also survived by seven grandchildren, Kim Anonson, Brian Kessel, Ashley Wofford, Justin O’Neal, Brandon O’Neal, Everett Cunningham, William Cunningham, four great grandchildren, Erica Anonson, Bobby Anonson, Cayden and Avery Wofford and six great-great grandchildren, several step grandchildren, several step great grandchildren and also by nieces, nephews and numerous extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be on Friday, November 22, 2019 from 10 AM till 11 AM in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves.

Service to honor Rosie’s life will be at 11:00 AM Friday with Rev. Randy Hennigan of Kenner, LA., officiating.

Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Clayton Thompson.

Serving as pallbearers are Brian Kessel, Justin O’Neal, Brandon O’Neal, Everett Cunningham, Will Cunningham and Kevin Bruns. Honorary pallbearers will be Joey Bruns, Kent Henagan and Casey Wofford.
