GIRLS BASKETBALL PREVIEW: Nederland focused on getting better

The Bulldogs want to make zero excuses this year. Their focus: Being better than yesterday.

“Our girls understand that we must get better each day and not make the same mistakes from the previous day,” Walker said. “That will help us reach our goal.”

What Nederland will have to motivate themselves is a commitment from all players in the program. They also all just want to be better. Their sole district win came against Cleveland last February during the second-to-last game of their season.

It will take hard work to improve their game. Returning with experience from last year are juniors guard/forward Kailey Showalter, point guard Sariah Chargois, point guard Cheyenne Hammonds and guard/forward Alexis Bobb.

“We will have to improve on our defensive communication, attention to detail, and taking care of the basketball this season,” Walker said.

“I anticipate and am excited about the next day for our girls. They have to want to do better and play better.”
