Group of 10 avoid injury during drive-by shooting; details scarce

A driver along the 3600 block of 7th Street Monday morning wouldn’t have realized the amount of violence that took place at the location a mere 24 hours earlier.

Police say a “high volume of rounds” was fired into a home full of people Sunday just before 7 a.m.

Although as many as 10 people, including children, were there at the time, no one was hurt.

Details about the attack, including suspect information, are hard to come by as police cite the investigation in remaining tight-lipped.

“Detectives are still following leads on that case,” Port Arthur Police Det. Mike Hebert said. “I do not want to speculate.”

Police are not saying how many rounds were fired, the type of weapon or weapons involved or saying if a specific member of the household was targeted.

Hebert said detectives are looking to see if there are links between Sunday morning’s shooting and a rash of Port Arthur crime in the last nine days that has left three people dead in separate altercations.
