VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: Sharks strike gold against Oilers in 4

Sabine Pass found balanced scoring and got 11 digs and two aces from Jamesia Jones on Friday in front of a “Pink Out” crowd, defeating West Hardin 25-23, 18-25, 25-18, 25-22 in District 24-2A volleyball play.

Joanna Smolsky had eight kills and four aces, Nevaeh Jones and Yainn Zuniga each totaled six kills, and Charnel Jones scored five for the Sharks (15-8, 7-4 in 24-2A), who won their second match in a row. Smolsky totaled four aces, Nevaeh Jones blocked five attacks, and Zuniga had four digs and two aces.

Kennedy Lejune contributed seven digs and Jazmin Castro five in the win.

Sabine Pass will visit High Island on Tuesday.

 

PNG 3, Cleveland 0

In Port Neches, the Rock-A-Noos improved to 15-18 and 5-2 in 21-5A. Statistics were unavailable.

PNG will host Dayton on Tuesday and close out a three-match homestand with Nederland next Friday.

 

Barbers Hill 3, Nederland 0

In Nederland, the Bulldogs (23-14, 6-2 in 21-5A) could not make it as close a match in front of a “Pink Out” crowd as it was in the first meeting against district-leading Barbers Hill (8-0 in 21-5A).

No statistics were available in the 25-14, 25-10, 25-18 Barbers Hill win. Nederland will host Vidor on Tuesday.
