A Jefferson County grand jury indicted Kelli Diedre Sartin on Wednesday for killing her father, Charles Douglas Sartin, 81.

Sartin died from blunt force trauma and had been dead for several days when his body was discovered after a call regarding a welfare concern at a home in Sabine Pass on Sept. 9.

When police arrived they found Kelli Sartin at the home, saying she found her father dead and he committed suicide by hitting himself with a metal spatula and wooden rolling pin on Sept. 4.

Sartin’s deceased body was found wrapped in bedding and a tarp in the bedroom, and Kelli Sartin reportedly said she thoroughly cleaned the home with bleach and taped the bedroom door shut with duct tape.

The victim’s body had apparent wounds on the head and upper torso that appeared consistent with blunt force. She later mad a statement to police about the death.

She was arrested and is being held on $1 million bond.
