PAPD: Local man arrested after woman injured, sent to hospital
A Port Arthur man is behind bars, police saying he seriously injured a Beaumont woman, sending her to the hospital in the process.
Port Arthur Police Department Sgt. Shannon Meaux said officers detained the suspect, identified only as a 51-year-old male Port Arthur resident, at the scene of a police response.
Authorities said the suspect was taken to the Port Arthur Police Department and interviewed by detectives before being taken to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility, where he was charged with aggravated assault.
Port Arthur Police first responded at 4:01 p.m. Monday to the 800 block of Orange Avenue in reference to an assault.
Meaux said responding officers discovered a 33-year-old female Beaumont resident had been assaulted, having sustained “serious bodily injury.”
