Imelda: 5th wettest tropical cyclone in U.S. history

Roger Erickson, warning coordination meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, provided some all-to-sobering facts about recent rainfall.
The light white area pictured above displays where at least 20 inches of rain fell, and the bright white area from Winnie to Hamshire and Fannett in western Jefferson County is at least 40 inches.
This event is unofficially the fifth wettest tropical cyclone in the continental U.S. history.
The wettest? Jefferson County with Harvey in 2017.
Jefferson County also holds the sixth wettest with Allison from 2001.
