Port Neches-Groves Independent School District and law enforcement are investigating an incident that occurred between two juveniles after a football game Friday night.
“We are not investigating a sexual assault. We are investigating an incident that happened on a bus between two juveniles,” Port Neches Police Chief Paul Lemoine said. “With all certainty, it is not a sexual assault.”
Lemoine said at this point it appears the incident to possibly be indecency with a child by contact of which both are juveniles.
The alleged incident happened on a bus on Highway 190 prior to entering the city of Woodville — the PNG Indians faced the Huntsville Hornets at Huntsville on Friday night.
The high school resource officer is investigating the incident on behalf of the school and he will forward information to whatever law enforcement authority the incident occurred in.
PNGISD Assistant Superintendent Julie Gauthier emailed a statement to The Port Arthur News regarding the allegation.
“An investigation is ongoing at this time. Rest assured that the safety of our students is our top priority. We are taking all allegations seriously and all steps necessary to ensure the safety and security of our students,” Gauthier said.
