BEAUMONT — Beaumont police were working to piece together the puzzle that led to the death of Cedric Carter, 38, of Beaumont.

Police received a call of shots fired around 11:29 p.m. Saturday in the 5100 block of Oriole. That’s where police found a vehicle parked in the street, still running, and a blood trail leading into a home.

Once inside, officers found Beaumont resident Cedric Carter, 38, with a gunshot wound. Beaumont Emergency Medical Services arrived and brought him to a local hospital where he later died.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting were unclear Monday and the investigation was continuing, according to a Facebook post by Beaumont Police Department.
