PNG grads among TPC Group scholarship winners

HOUSTON — TPC Group recently announced the recipients of this year’s Mark of Excellence Scholarship Program at a luncheon in Houston.

The Company’s Mark of Excellence Scholarship Program recognizes high school seniors planning to attend a four-year or two-year university or college following graduation. Since 2006, TPC Group has awarded more than $915,000 in academic scholarships to graduating high school seniors in southeast Texas.

TPC Group’s Mark of Excellence Scholarship is awarded to students graduating from Cesar E. Chavez High School, in Houston’s East End and from Port Neches-Groves High School and who plan to pursue a degree in engineering, chemistry or environmental science at an accredited four-year college or university; or an Associate of Applied Science Degree in process, instrument, analyzer or electrical technology at an accredited two-year institution.

Dependents of TPC Group employees and high school students participating in Genesys Works, a high school internship program that works with corporate partners like TPC Group to place underserved students in meaningful internships during their senior year, are also eligible for the Mark of Excellence Scholarship, as well. The Company awarded 18 scholarships in 2019.

Port Neches-Groves Recipients:

Riley Abel is a graduate of Port Neches-Groves High School. Riley plans to attend Lamar State College–Port Arthur and pursue a degree in process technology.

  • Alaina Collins is a graduate of Port Neches-Groves High School. She plans to attend Lamar University and pursue a degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Diana Nguyen is a graduate of Port Neches-Groves High School. She plans to attend the University of Texas at Austin and pursue a degree in chemical engineering.

Sons and Daughters Scholarships:

  • Carlee Weeks is a graduate of Bridge City High School. She plans to attend Stephen F. Austin and pursue a degree in nursing.
