FOOTBALL: State 7-on-7 pools announced

Port Neches-Groves and West Brook qualified for the Division I Texas 7-on-7 Championship tournament, to be held Friday and Saturday at Veterans Park and Athletic Complex in College Station.

On Friday, PNG, a 5A Region III semifinalist last season, will take on Southlake at 1 p.m. Friday, Clear Brook at 3 p.m. and Hutto at 5 p.m. in Pool D. That day, West Brook, last year’s 6A Division II state runner-up, will square off against Lake Travis at 1 p.m., Clear Springs at 3 p.m., and Cedar Hill at 5 p.m. in Pool F.

The top two teams in each pool will compete in the championship bracket beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday.

PNG is making its fifth appearance in the state 7-on-7. West Brook is going for the 10th time.
