Player of the Year: LC-M’s Jack Burke wins Zaharias Boys award

Little Cypress-Mauriceville’s Jack Burke took home the The 9th Annual Babe Didrikson Zaharias Junior Golf Award for Boys Player of the Year at the Montagne Center on Tuesday.

Burke won the state title at Plum Creek Golf Course in Kyle in May.

Three Nederland Bulldogs were finalists for multiple awards. Brendan Marley was a finalist for Boy player of the Year, Emma Bruney was a finalist for Girls Player of the year and Daniel Cormier was a finalist for Boys Character/Leadership.

Girls Character/Leadership — Cadence Underwood, Bridge City

Boys Character/Leadership — Brody Jeanes, Hardin Jefferson

Girls Player of the Year — Elizabeth Townsend, Hardin Jefferson

The guest speaker for the evening was Giles Kibbe. Kibbe, a former Lamar University golfer is currently the Sr. VP and General Counsel for the Houston Astros and the Crane Capital Group.
