Austin Bost’s one season in the junior college baseball ranks has led to an opportunity in the Southeastern Conference.

Bost has signed with Texas A&M after spending this school year at Panola College. The 2018 Port Neches-Groves graduate played 47 games with the Carthage-based Ponies and helped them earn third place in the NJCAA Region XIV tournament held last week at Lamar University.

“Blessed to announce that I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at Texas A&M University!” Bost tweeted Sunday. “Thank you to everyone who has helped me get to where I am today! [thumb-up sign]”

The 6-foot, 180-pound infielder batted .351 (61 for 206), hit nine home runs and scored 38 runs in 47 games with the Ponies. He lined 19 doubles and drove in 40 runs.

Bost thrived in conference play with a .388 average, .492 on-base percentage and .680 slugging clip.

A stalwart infielder at PNG, Bost helped the Indians win the 5A state championship in 2017.
