MEN’S BASKETBALL: Nickerson becomes Lamar’s second signee for ’19-20

Houston Sterling senior Corey Nickerson has signed a letter of intent with Lamar, the university announced Thursday.

Nickerson is a 6-foot-8, 185-pound forward who averaged 21 points, 13.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 2.3 steals and 2.2 blocks this season for the Raiders, according to MaxPreps. Nickerson looks to fill a key void left by graduating Lamar senior Josh Nzeakor, an All-Southland Conference performer.

Nickerson is just the second Cardinals’ signee for the 2019-20 season. Clarendon College’s Ellis Jefferson, who prepped at San Antonio Brandeis, officially committed last Thursday and should fill the role of graduating senior Nick Garth.
