Two set pieces late in the second half gave Port Neches-Groves an opportunity to break a scoreless tie and eventually qualify for its fifth consecutive 5A Region III girls soccer tournament.

Goals by Kelsie Comeaux and Ariel Muller helped the Indians defeat Texas City 2-0 at Barbers Hill High School. PNG (19-5-5) will take on Kingwood Park or College Station at 11 a.m. next Friday at Turner Stadium in Humble.

Comeaux scored off a free kick from Kaylee Landry inside the 10-minute mark. Breeana Riggs leaped off to keep play alive and blocked the goalkeepers’ view as the ball sailed by, leaving Comeaux with a chance to capitalize.
