DPS said the wreck occurred near mile marker 841 around 5 p.m. and started with the driver experiencing a medical emergency in Lark’s eastbound vehicle, a BMW. DPS said in an issued statement that the vehicle struck the cable barriers. That collision caused a tire to dislodge from the BMW, which traveled into the westbound lane and struck a westbound commercial vehicle. The collision also caused a cable wire to snap; that wire struck an eastbound pickup truck that was traveling behind the BMW.

The collision caused delays in traffic on both sides of the interstate.
