SOFTBALL: PNG’s 6-run third enough against Tomball

Kasidee Sartin homered, Cameron Niedenthal struck out seven, and Port Neches-Groves scored six runs in the third inning of a 7-5 win over Tomball on Thursday in the Crosby softball tournament.

PNG then followed that with a 9-3 win over Galena Park.

Bayja Newby smashed a triple, and Sadie Shrestha and Taylor Dominguez each doubled for the Indians (7-2). Sydnee Adams and Dominguez each went 2 for 3, while Shrestha was hit by a pitch twice.

Against Galena Park, PNG jumped to a 5-0 lead and answered all three of Galena Park’s runs in the second inning. Shrestha went 2 for 2 and scored twice, while Alexus Finn, Maylin Louvier and Adams had the other PNG hits.

Phoebe Borne earned the win after striking out three and allowing no hits (but two earned runs) in 1 1/3 innings. Niedenthal struck out two in the next 1 2/3 innings.
