PREP ROUNDUP: Adams scores 57 points as Silsbee routs H-F

Scoring 124 points in just 32 minutes of basketball as a team is one thing. One young man scoring 57 of those points is another.

Jordyn Adams scored 57 points Friday as Silsbee took a 124-57 victory over host Hamshire-Fannett on Friday. Hamshire-Fannett coach Matt Pace said on Twitter that Adams set a school record with the scoring total.

Silsbee, the defending 4A state champion, improved to 20-6 and 9-0 in District 22-4A with three games remaining. Hamshire-Fannett fell to 2-20 and 0-9.

 

Memorial 69, Cleveland 45

The Titans (22-6, 9-1 in 21-5A) went on the road to earn a 21-5A victory over the Indians. No statistics were available.

Memorial remains in first place in district play and will host Dayton on Tuesday for senior night.

 

Barbers Hill 58, PNG 47

In Port Neches, a strong third quarter for the Eagles (25-6, 8-1 in 21-5A) all but doomed the Indians (17-12, 5-5).

PNG trailed 25-22 at halftime before Barbers Hill outscored the Indians 12-4 in the next 8 minutes.

Max Armer of Barbers Hill led all scorers with 22 points and Kyler Duhon added 19. Drake Rojas led PNG with 16 points, Trent Lee scored 14 and Tracy Smith had 11.

The Indians will visit Vidor in search of a three-game season sweep on Tuesday.

 

LCM 44, Bridge City 35

In Little Cypress, Grant Boudreaux and Austin Richardson each scored nine points, but the Cardinals (12-18, 2-8 in 22-4A) could not find much more offense in a loss to the Bears.

Braden Bridges led Little Cypress-Mauriceville with 16 points.

Also Friday: Nederland 70, Dayton 29.

 

GIRLS HOOPS

Barbers Hill 67, PNG 39

In Mont Belvieu, a flat second half for PNG after trailing by just two points resulted in a 28-point loss to District 21-5A co-leading Barbers Hill.

PNG (19-12, 7-4 in 21-5A) was tied with Barbers Hill 12-12 after one period and behind 29-27 at the break. The Indians trailed 48-35 through three quarters.

Mollee Priddy had 12 points and five rebounds and Chelsea Carrillo eight points and six boards for PNG. Barbers Hill improved to 10-1 in the district.

PNG will host Vidor in its regular-season finale at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

 

GIRLS SOCCER

Nederland 5, Barbers Hill 0

Brynn Landry struck for two goals and led host Nederland to a 5-0 win over Barbers Hill in District 21-5A girls soccer.

Meg Sheppard, Hanna Foster and Haley Plumley each added a goal for the Bulldogs (10-1-2, 2-0 in 21-5A). Amber Borel earned another shutout victory and saved four shots.

The Bulldogs took 26 shots on goal and 34 overall.

Nederland coach Aaron Tomplait lauded Phoebe Short, Destyn Miguez, Abby Gray, Haley Dugas and Lauren Hughes for their defense. Jordan Minaldi, Karrie-Faith Anders, Miguez and Sheppard recorded assists.

Nederland will host Vidor on Tuesday.

 

PNG 8, Cleveland 0

In Port Neches, Ariel Muller and Abby Reeves each netted two goals as the host Indians (8-3-4, 1-0 in 21-5A) blanked the visiting Indians.

Breeana Riggs, Mia Delgadillo, Kaylee Landry and Zoe Scroggs also scored for PNG. Sophie Brant, Kelsie Comeaux, Izzy Volk, Scroggs, Muller and Riggs accounted for assists.

PNG will host Dayton on Tuesday.

 

BOYS SOCCER

PNG 2, Cleveland 1

In Cleveland, Zane Hernandez and Jason Lovejoy pushed PNG’s Indians past the Cleveland Indians in district play.

PNG improved to 9-5-1 and 1-0 in 21-5A.

 

Nederland 3, Barbers Hill 0

In Mont Belvieu, Payne Barrow scored twoice, Cooper Slott added a goal and an assist, and the Bulldogs (6-4-2, 2-0 in 21-5A) blanked the Eagles.

Ethan Vincent made two assists, and Josh Clements earned the shutout for the Bulldogs, who visit Vidor on Tuesday.
