Nederland man indicted in shooting incident; plus other indictments issued this week

A Jefferson County grand jury on Wednesday indicted a Nederland man for shooting his estranged girlfriend last month.

David Whittington Jr., 48, was indicted for aggravated assault-family violence for the Dec. 21 incident.

Nederland Police were called around 6:11 a.m. to a home in the 1100 block of Detroit Avenue where a 35-year-old woman had been shot multiple times on the left side of her head and body with a small caliber firearm, according to the arrest warrant. Through witness information police learned the suspect was the victim’s estranged boyfriend Whittington.

Law enforcement searched for Whittington for more than a week before he turned himself in at the Department of Public Safety building in Anahuac.

The victim is expected to make a full recovery.

  • Latisha Lak, 19, of Houston, was indicted for fraudulent use of identifying information.
  • Regina Elizabeth Carrier, also known as: Lakaisha M. Carrier, Regina Carrier, Regina Elizabeth George, Regina E. Carrier, Lakaisha Monique Carrier, Lakaisha Carrier, 36, of Beaumont, was indicted for bail jumping and failure to appear.
  • Quentin Wayne Lebleu, 21, transient, was indicted for burglary of a vehicle with prior burglary of vehicle convictions.
  • Joshua Dwayne Garrett, 27, of Beaumont, was indicted for possession of a controlled substance, cocaine.
  • Willie Pugh, also known as: Willie Edward Pugh, and Willie Edward Pugh Jr., 42, of Beaumont, was indicted for possession of a controlled substance, cocaine.

  • Walter Howard Nepveux, 25, of Port Arthur, was indicted for evading arrest/detention use of a vehicle.

  • Chayne Nicholas Powell-Scully, 19, of Groves, was indicted for possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine.
  • Henry George Green, also known as Henry George Green Jr., and Henry Green, 41, of Port Arthur, was indicted for evading arrest/detention with previous convictions.
