PREP ROUNDUP: Ten Lady Titans score in 20-point rout of Bulldogs

It’s become a theme in Memorial girls basketball — balanced scoring.

Ten Titans entered the scoring column, and Jackie Gibbs was the only double-digit scorer in the game with 10 points in a 49-29 win at Nederland on Tuesday.

The Titans (12-10, 6-1 in 21-5A) shot 43.8 percent (14 of 32) from the floor and left little to chance against the struggling Bulldogs (0-7 in 21-5A). Gibbs made 4 of 9 from the floor.

Julia Sion, Denisha Anderson and Emily McElroy each added six for Memorial. Nederland will visit Barbers Hill on Friday.

Evadale 57, Sabine Pass 26

In Sabine Pass, the Sharks struggled to recover from a 20-4 early hole.

Yainn Zuniga had seven points to lead Sabine Pass.

 

BOYS HOOPS

Tekoa 62, Bob Hope 50

At the Port Arthur Recreation Center, freshman Jailan Ardoin led the Cougars (13-6) with 20 points and 13 rebounds in a 12-point victory over the Eagles (3-23).

Tekoa led 40-16 at halftime before Bob Hope scored 17 points in each of the last two periods.

Lesley Harmanson had 11 rebounds and four blocks to go with seven points, Darryl Prevost totaled 16  points, three rebounds and two steals, and Troy Angelle tallied 13 points, three steals and three assists for Tekoa. J. Nievos had 20 points for the Eagles.

Tekoa will host Houston Heights at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

 

GIRLS SOCCER

Nederland 1, Porter 0

In Porter, Meg Sheppard’s goal gave the Bulldogs the non-district win over the Spartans. Sheppard has scored in each game this season, including shootout goals after a scoreless regulation.

Morgan McBride earned the shutout in the net, her seventh in seven games.

The Bulldogs (6-0-1) will host Atascocita on Friday.

 

BOYS SOCCER

PNG 5, Bridge City 0

In Port Neches, Jason Lovejoy, Tyler Jackson, Johnathan Alvarenga, Seth Aguilar and Marlon Sandoval comprised the Indians’ offensive production Tuesday against the Cardinals.

PNG improved to 5-4-1 on the season.
