BASEBALL: Bridge City ranked No. 5 in 4A preseason poll

With a new field opening soon, the Bridge City baseball team will begin the season ranked fifth in the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association 4A preseason poll.

Bridge City finished 24-9-2 last season and won the District 22-4A championship before losing to eventual 4A Region III champion Jasper in the regional quarterfinals. Coach Chad Landry’s Cardinals will begin the season with a home tournament Feb. 21-23.

The entire top 10 for 4A, in order, is: Argyle, Sweeny, Pleasant Grove, Robinson, Bridge City, Canton, Salado, Iowa Park, Levelland and Cuero.
Cypress Ranch in 6A, Colleyville Heritage in 5A, Georgetown Gateway in 3A, Dallardsville Big Sandy in 2A and D’Hanis in 1A are the other top-ranked teams in the THSBCA polls.
